Pro Mujer Nicaragua (PMN) offers its services almost only to women. PMN offers loans for micro-entrepreneurs, and microloans for healthcare and children education. PMN offers also savings services. On the top of these financial services, PMN offers trainees to the micro-entrepreneurs women in order to help them running their business in a better way. PMN also gives information about hygiene and health, and offers a free annual medical visit to a doctor for its customers.

The loans are only attributed to mutual groups. Even if these groups can count up to 20 people, small groups are preferred. Before allowing a loan, the loan officer investigates about the borrower and guesses her capacity of paying the loan back. Once the loan runs, the loan officer visits the group once a month. From a cycle to another one, the customers can increase the amount they borrow, depending of their new ability to pay back, and the way they had paid back the previous loan(s).

The refinancing of PMN is private for one part.

Any form of microbusiness is represented.

In the future PMN would like to offer its services to many more people.

MFI met in Leon on the 13th of March 2009
